♥ Because Avalon's Active & Discovery cruises are exactly what you are looking for: a way to find more adventure on your river cruise while delving deeper into local cultures. Your choice of a different included excursion everyday - Classic, Discovery or Active. And there are always bicycles on board for your personal [unguided] use. You can even request a Picnic Lunch to take along (no charge).
♥ Because the ship only holds 126 passengers. Make new worldwide friends - yet very intimate.
♥ Because the Rhine River winds through some of the world's most beautiful regions, castles, rolling fields of grape vines and charming historic towns. Enjoy fine local cuisine and wines of the region as you roll along the river.
♥ Because it end in Switzerland. Need more of Switzerland??? How about a post-stay in Basel, or Zurich, or on Lake Lucerne. It does not gat any more picturesque than that.
Weather: Should be perfect late Springweather! Plan on warmish days (80's) - and cool nights.
Water Level of the Rhine: The reason we are going in May is to assure that the Rhine (often times with very low water) will have a strong level to avoid any issues with our cruise.
Currency: Euros
Electric: Ship: 110V US Standard
Hotels: 220 V in France in general - pre-or post stays. Plug Adapter required. A Converter may be required, depending on what you are plugging in (some items have a built in converter). Carefully review your device.
VISA - There is no VISA required
Immunization/Shots: According to the Centers for Disease Control, there are no additional obligatory vaccines you need before traveling to this location (unless visiting on your own to remote areas).
Check your records to see if it's time to update your routine shots. The DPT vaccines, which protect against diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus, should be updated every 10 years.
At this time, neither the airlines nor Avalon Waterways require a negative COVID test, nor vaccine immunization.
